Some people will always think of Malcolm Gladwell as a writer, for his New Yorker articles, and books like The Tipping Point, Blink, and Outliers. Other people know he’s a writer, but they might be more familiar with his podcast. Revisionist History goes deep on events, ideas, and people who’ve been overlooked or been misunderstood. Like the inventor of the birth control pill, who was also a committed Catholic. Broken Record, which he co-hosts with Rick Rubin and Bruce Headlam is a conversation about, or with musicians. Malcolm Gladwell is also something of a podcast mogul, having co-founded the podcast company Pushkin Industries with Jacob Weisberg. But fear not! He hasn’t stopped writing. His latest book, which is also an innovative audio book, is titled Talking to Strangers: What We Should Know about the People We Don't Know.
This episode is a conversation with Malcolm Gladwell about why it is so easy to be fooled by dishonest people. “The reason sociopaths and liars get away with their lies is not because they are geniuses, it’s beacause we’re not built to spot them.”
